Sit down and relax to a full gourmet breakfast by candlelight in the original Keeping Room, which was once the main kitchen in the home. Elizabeth cooked her meals in the original fireplace and cooled her baked goods in the pie window next to the old Dutch oven. However, we prefer to use our modern kitchen appliances to prepare your meal. Such entrees include:
  • Florentine Egg Baskets, served with bacon and your choice of toast.
  • Sweet Potato Pecan Waffles served with a cinnamon cream sauce or real maple syrup and breakfast sausage.
  • Asparagus and Ham Quiche with a Potato Crust served with bacon and your choice of toast.
  • Orange Blossom French Toast served with breakfast sausage.
  • Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp
  • Homemade applesauce
  • Coffee, tea, orange juice

As with the seasons, our menu changes. Most dishes are prepared with”farm fresh” eggs, homemade jams, baked goods, and locally grown produce and fruit when in season.

Maxwell Creek Inn offers five guestrooms in the main cobblestone house with private baths and a full gourmet breakfast. Common areas include guest refrigerator, microwave, library, sitting room with TV, coffee and tea service throughout the day. Additionally, the property includes a private cobblestone carriage house, perfect for extended stay guest, families or groups. This private guesthouse offers two efficiency suites with kitchenettes, private baths, TV and AC. Accommodations in the carriage house do not include breakfast.



Gaylord Suite
 Originally the Gaylord boy’s dorm room, this enormous room has a large picture window that overlooks Maxwell Bay, apple orchards, and part of Lake Ontario. The suite is furnished with a king-size bed, sofa, chair, wicker dining set and lounge, private bath, TV, small refrigerator and air conditioning. *Upon request, guest may be served breakfast in this private room.

Elizabeth Swales Room
 Named after William Swales daughter whom he originally built the house for; this spacious room overlooks Maxwell Bay, apple orchards and part of Lake Ontario. The Elizabeth Swales Room offers a king size bed, air conditioning, and private bath.

John Preston Gaylord Room
 Named after Elizabeth Swales husband, John Preston and great, great, great grandson; this room overlooks Maxwell Bay, apple orchards, and part of Lake Ontario. Furnished with antiques, the room offers a queen size bed, a cozy sitting area with a built-in library bookshelf, air conditioning and a private bath, and bathrobes.

William Swales Room 
 Named after the original builder of the Cobblestone House; the room offers two beds; a full-size antique four-poster bed plus a twin-size bed, rocking chair, private bath and air conditioning.

Mary Ellen Shumway-Gaylord Room
 Mary Ellen Shumway-Gaylord is the mother of ten Gaylord children and the last generation of Gaylord’s to live in the old cobblestone house. The house remained in the Gaylord family for nearly 150 years. This double size room offers a king-size bed with a sitting area, private bath, bathrobes, and air conditioning. The headboard to this bed is the “original” front door to the home.

Cobblestone Carriage House
Historic Cobblestone InnDesigned for Extended Stay Guest or Vacation Rental Rent by the week, month or a minimum of a three night stay plus 8% sales tax.

A One Night stay during a Holiday Weekend may be charged a premium rate.

Our Cobblestone Carriage House is perfect for families, groups or guest temporarily working in the area. The guesthouse is set up with two separate efficiency suites with private entrances, private baths, and kitchenettes equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and dishes. TV and A/C are also included. Picnic table and a gas grill are available for guest use. These accommodations do not include breakfast.

The Loft of this private Cobblestone guesthouse offers a private entrance into a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave and coffeepot. Guest sleep in a big open loft with a cathedral ceiling, private bath, five single beds, sitting area in front of the enormous brick fireplace, TV, AC and dining area. Outdoor grill and picnic tables available for guest use. Sleeps 6 maximum.

The William T. Gaylord Suite is on the ground level of The Cobblestone Carriage House and is complete with private bath, combination sitting area and kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, sofa, and four twin beds in a separate room. Refrigerator, microwave, coffeepot, TV and A/C, outdoor grill and picnic tables available for guest use. Sleeps 4 maximum. Breakfast not included.
